Version 1.3.1

This is a patch release that only fixes some problems that could arise under some circumstances. You should upgrade only if you were affected by these problems.

  • fixed problem with some licenses for unlimited users
  • fixed SMTP problem "550 Mailbox unknown" that could occur in some circustances using virtual domains

Version 1.3

  • added support for virtual domains. Users can be organized in domains, each domain with its own mail handling, administrator, disk quotas, etc.
  • it is now possible to create user accounts from a spreadsheet (bulk creation).
  • added posibility of specifying disk quotas other than the default ones
  • added option to copy mail fetched from other POP3 accounts to your DeskNow POP3 account.
    This option is on by default for new installations; if upgrading from a previous release, you need to specifically enable this option. See documentation for more info.
  • added "SynchronizeWebmailWithPOP3Read" to configuration settings, to mark messages in webmail as read when downloaded via POP3weboption to synchronize webmail with POP3

  • added "SynchronizeWebmailWithPOP3Delete" to configuration settings, to delete messages from webmail when deleted via POP3.

  • it is now possible to restrict a user account to guest status. guest users have limited privileges (ex. cannot have own folders, calendars, cannot use mail, etc.)
  • the calendar pages are now refreshed automatically when DeskNow does the periodic check, to display events and tasks posted by other users.
  • fixed bug that prevented mail aliases to work when sending emails from the internal web interface
  • fixed bug that left blank the body of messages sent from the draft folder without prior editing
  • added print preview page for emails
  • improved handling of non-standard mail addresses containing the comma character
  • added some missing referential integrity constraints when using PostgreSQL
  • improved handling of inline images in mail messages
  • imporoved security: after logging out, it is not possible to use the back button to access user's data
  • added "DefaultLongDatePattern" and "DefaultShortDatePattern" to configuration settings, to change the default date format for new users (American by default)
  • it is now not possible to edit the DeskNow username field of a contact (this led some people to assume that this was the way to change a username - the editable field is now redundant with user directories)

  • DeskNow is now compatible with PostgreSQL 7.3.x
  • fixed problem with uploading files/attachments using Mozilla / Netscape

  • (Windows installer) changed to use "client" Java Virtual Machine instead of server JVM, due to JVM bug that resulted in excessive memory use
